Guide to the Diamond Lakes
Family attractions cover the five counties of the Diamond Lakes Region.
The five Diamond Lakes - called that as much for the crystal clear
water as for the diamond-bearing and quartz-rich areas in which they
are found - are Lakes Ouachita and Hamilton at Hot Springs, Lake
Catherine near Malvern, Lake Greeson between Glenwood and Murfreesboro,
and DeGray Lake at Arkadelphia. The lakes spread like jewels across the
Ouachita Mountains, inviting visitors to sample fishing, boating, and
other on-the-water adventures. Naturally, resorts and marinas are in
abundance.
Among the places to visit are Clark County - Two
Rivers Country, Garland County - The Hot Springs
Experience, Hot Spring County - Brick Capital
of the World, Montgomery County - Crystal
Country & Outdoor Paradise, and Pike County -
Diamond Splash Country.
Our other landmarks are known around the world. The Diamond Lakes area
and Hot Springs National Park draw throngs of visitors to a long list
of attractions that includes the Spa City's naturally thermal water,
historic Bathhouse Row and Oaklawn Park thoroughbred horse racing
track. The Crater of Diamonds State Park near Murfreesboro is famous as
the only place in North America where you can hunt for diamonds and
keep any you find. But for a total "Diamond Lakes experience," take a
back road and enjoy all that the beautiful Ouachita Mountains
countryside and our little communities have to offer.
